Established 2012 in Annapolis, Maryland, Blk Ankr Originals (pronounced Black Anchor) is one of the areas top providers of custom screen printing. Born out of a love for design, and the great fashion staple - the T-shirt - we strive to exceed our customers' expectations and still provide a great value to our community. For us, it is more than just a t-shirt. It is an opportunity to bring your ideas to life and give you an outlet to show your pride, express your message, represent your group, and look good doing it.
ABOUT THE OWNER/OPERATOR
Owner/Operator Matthew Reese was born in the Philippine Islands, the son of a U.S. Navy Veteran, but has lived most of his life in Maryland. A graduate of Towson University with a degree in Visual Communications/Graphic Design, he left a corporate job of 15 years to follow his passion for design and "cool t-shirts". In his short time in business, he has come to really love the great sense of community among other businesses and artists in the area. Always looking to improve, he enjoys the growth and energy collaboration brings to a project. Matthew (or Pee Wee as some of his friends call him), resides in Shady Side with his wife, three kids, and two rescue dogs. Matt enjoys collecting sea glass at the beach (no joke), and tattoos from local artists (including the BLK ANKR logo on his right forearm).
ABOUT THE NAME
Well one of the most asked questions is about our name - BLK ANKR ORIGINALS. So here is the answer, in as short a form as possible. BLK (black) is Matt's favorite color. ANKR (anchor) is a not only a nod to the local maritime community of the City of Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay region, but also to his father, who served in the Navy. The odd spelling of both - well that is for a few reasons. The first - to make it unique - which also helped to secure the web url (www.blkankr.com). The second, was to be able to fit the name on a Maryland license plate, in seven characters (BLKANKR). And why Originals instead of Screen Printing? Well we don't know what creative endevor the future brings, and we want to focus on bringing you orignal products and custom solutions to each and every project. Yep - it is that simple.
